Can a bee sting make you reflective?

Recently I got stung by a bee…again!
As I sit here, I realise that I am nearly up to double digits when it comes to getting stung by bees!
Now here’s the kicker, I have ONLY ever been stung on the feet. (Side note: the toes do hurt the worst.) The reason I get stung on the feet is because I like to walk around barefoot. I have done so since I was a child living on farms and in small beach communities. It was all dirt roads, mud and grass. The perfect playing field for growing feet but many years I still get the same amount of pleasure wriggling my toes in squishy earth textures.
Shoes actually make me uncomfortable and fidgety. Science has shown us that barefoot has the most amazing benefits to body, mind and soul and I am a true believer in this. But, on occasion, you can and will step on something sharp and make no mistake it hurts.
This latest bee sting made me reflect on other habits I have or do. Do I have habits that create an outcome of discomfort in my body? And if I do, is the habit is worth the occasional bit of discomfort? Does the good outweigh the bad?
As I pose this question to myself, I’m going to ask you too, dear reader, the same questions: what habits are you holding on to? Are they habits that have occasional discomfort or more discomfort than they are worth keeping?
Let me give you a bad but obvious example:
You have an intolerance to dairy but you continue to eat chocolate which means you live with a constant upset gut. If you gave up chocolate you would be more physically comfortable but would you be happy without chocolate?
Again, is the habit worth the outcome? Simply put: the choice is always yours.
Looking at the greater picture for me here, I get so much happiness, connection and joy from removing my shoes that I have to take the occasional ‘hit’ from nature to do so.
I hope my bee stings help you to take a moment for reflection but not afraid of taking off your shoes. I assure you its totally worth it.
Tracy
P.S I do feel bad for the bees that I step on!
