Yin Yoga is a slower-paced, more meditative version of the popular physical and spiritual discipline of yoga.
In Yin yoga, the poses are held for a long period of time (typically three to five minutes or longer) to target the connective tissues (such as the ligaments) rather than focusing on the muscles. This style of yoga is a lovely counter balance to your mere active practice.
Myofascial Release is a self-massage technique to help reduce tension or aches and pains in the body. Self Myofascial Release is a practice that uses tools (balls, blocks, rollers) to target the fascia in the body to help improve range of motion and enhance mobility. I use combine self myofasical release with Yin Yoga to create what I call Roll & Release Yoga, the perfect restorative class.
