I don’t know if you saw my post on Tuesday but I had a total lazy day. I did my non-negotiables such as meditation, reading and exercise but the rest of the day really didn’t have much substance too it. In our house we call it "bunking off".

I had a list of tasks and jobs that needed doing but I didn’t want to do any of them. I 100% avoided them but then by the end of the day I had those self-berating thoughts about my lack of effort.

But the moment I began to feel guilty I reminded myself about who is making these rules about my life? And. why am I guilting myself like I’ve been naughty and haven’t done my chores?

Does this happen to you?

If it does then let me reassure you by listing (from the book) The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying written by internationally acclaimed speaker and author Bronnie Ware:

1.       I wish I’d lived a life true to myself. Not the life people expected of me.

2.       I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.

3.       I wish I had the courage to express my feelings.

4.       I wish I’d stayed in touch with my friends.

5.       I wish I’d allowed myself to be happier.

That top 5 really made me reflect on how I’m traveling in my life choices. Who am I really living for?

Listening to Bronnie made me realise that having a “lazy” day isn’t all that bad and it’s not lazy to make space for yourself to just be. When my time comes, if I have a chance to reflect back over my life, I would like to not have regrets regarding my personal choices especially allowing myself to be happier.

I was happy doing nothing on Tuesday.

I felt physically and mentally refreshed on Wednesday.

So, if you’re brave, re-read the top 5 again. Remind yourself that this is your life too. You matter. Your happiness matters. Your life matters.

Sending loads of courage to live life your way,

Tracy
